It is fitting that the release of our annual report corresponds with the implementation phase of the Carolina Value Initiative. The Hospital Ethics Committee (HEC) and the Clinical Ethics Services it supports are representative of the institution’s dedication to the care of its patients and education of its clinicians. The report represents the collective effort of faculty, staff, and community HEC members who work together, in support of the ethical engagement central to our institutional mission. With colleagues throughout the health care system and School of Medicine, we offer consultations, education, and policy advisement in some of our most challenging areas of adult and pediatric care. Our growing health care system will require our growth as well. We thank you for your support.
