Cover of the book Bioethics from the Global South
Bioethics from the Global South was published in mid-January 2025 by Springer.

The editors, Lillian Omutoko and Walter Jaoko, are graduates of the Advancing Research Ethics in Southern Africa (ARESA) program, an NIH-funded master’s program collaboratively run by the Division of Medical Ethics and Law at Stellenbosch University and the UNC Center for Bioethics.

This book tackles complex global issues like vaccination, climate change, environmental ethics, embryo adoption, and surrogate motherhood viewed from the perspective of the global south. The COVID-19 pandemic has emphasized the need for addressing bioethical issues on a global scale, beyond national and regional boundaries.
