Reece Carter is a medical student at the UNC School of Medicine with an undergraduate degree in neuroscience from The Johns Hopkins University. In 2022, he was co-leader of the Clinical Ethics Discussion Group which brought medical students together with interdisciplinary faculty to engage with bioethical questions. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Literature, Medicine, and Culture with interests in health humanities, critical disability studies, and rhetoric of health and medicine. His current work with the Center for Bioethics involves surveying residents about they approach the selection of healthcare decision makers. He is also engaged in a medical education project with the Department of Emergency Medicine. Reece plans to apply for a residency in emergency medicine (EM) with specific interest in rural EM and social EM. In his free time, he enjoys reading and one of his favorite books is Giovanni’s Room by James Baldwin.
