Zach is from Rockford, IL and graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2019 with a degree in Biochemistry. He then spent 2 years in Seattle, Washington at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center as a research technician studying therapies for pancreatic cancer. He joined the UNC MD/PhD program in 2021 and will be doing his PhD in the Serody and Vincent labs studying the immune microenvironment in breast cancer. He and some of his colleagues have recently started a project aimed at improving incorporation of social drivers of health in healthcare. He is excited about exploring the resources that UNC, including the Center for Bioethics, has to support this work. In his free time, he enjoys combat sports, hiking, and playing with his cat, Moxie.
