Hospital Ethics Committee Survey

The UNC Healthcare Hospital Ethics Committee (HEC) and UNC Center for Bioethics are conducting an anonymous survey to learn more about how ethics committees across the US comprise their memberships. This exploratory study will gather information about recruitment, appointment, and training of members for ethics committees. We are interested in hearing from chairs of hospital and health care ethics committees about their policies and practices. This study will fill important knowledge gaps about the range of recruitment and appointment practices implemented by ethics committees and how committees regard their composition and training needs. While other studies have examined the composition and roles of members of ethics committees generally, there is little known about specific practices, especially in regard to recruitment.
