Dr. Suzanne Day is a new postdoctoral fellow on the searcHIV R01 project (the Social and Ethical Aspects of Research on Curing HIV). Suzanne is a sociologist specializing in the study of gender, health and long-term care. Her work up to now has focused on examining care both as labour and as a social relationship, articulating the social, political, economic, and historical contexts within which health and long-term care are situated and addressing health care inequalities through an intersectional analysis. Suzanne earned her PhD in 2015 at York University, and comes to UNC from a prior postdoctoral fellowship at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, where she examined the integration of sex and gender in health research. Suzanne brings her expertise in qualitative research methodology to our project as we explore innovative ways to engage communities in HIV cure research.
