Members of the Hospital Ethics Committee and medical students from the Clinical Ethics Discussion Group, together with the Bioethics Society of UNC, invite you to a conversation focusing on ethical issues of interest to undergraduates considering careers in healthcare. Join us, bring your questions, and participate in a discussion regarding ethics cases such as:
- How should the healthcare team respond when a parent asks them not to disclose the diagnosis to their teenage patient?
- How can the team support their adult patient who decides to decline further treatment but his family objects to his decision?
- When is it proper to perform a biopsy when the patient objects?
- Is it proper to require that patients receive specific vaccines prior to listing for transplant?
